One example is from Cirebon arts known as Puppet. puppet is a traditional art which is played by a puppeteer who usually tells about historical figures or legends of a bygone era. puppets are used as a medium of education because in the puppet story contains the teachings of good to man. Besides puppets are also used as a medium of information to understand the tradition as well as the tools used to approach the public. Puppet is an entertainment media often presented in certain events. Formerly used as a puppet for the media to convey the message of Islam to the people.

Historically, puppets carried by Sunan Kalijaga and Sunan Kudus in the mid 16th century to the Cirebon as a medium to spread the teachings of Islam mixed with Javanese culture. Further developing puppets in the community, but were able to enjoy entertainment puppet originally from the society. At that time the puppet played by using the Java language Mataram. This is because Cirebon and surrounding areas are still dominated by the effects of the rule of the kingdom of Mataram.

In the year (1830 - 1870) took place during the life of Folk Cultururstelsel which was very depressed at the time, a lot of people from moving to Central Java and West Java, Cirebon culture while bringing these puppets. Then when it became famous puppet in the Cirebon and West Java until 1970 as a medium of entertainment.
