Gamelan is a set of percussion instruments consisting of gongs, drums, zither, Bonar, gender, xylophone, slenthem, demung, kenong, saron, kempul, kethuk, arranged in a row kempyang formation typical. Traditional tools this one is well known in the area of Central Java and Yogyakarta. Despite its traditional musical instruments but this one survived the technological advances, especially in the entertainment industry. The word comes from the Javanese Gamelan "Gamel" which means hitting or beating later followed by the suffix "an" which makes nouns. Many gamelan musical artistry encountered on the island of Java, Madura, Bali and Lombok in various shapes and sizes of ensembles.

Gamelan music is a blend of foreign cultural influences were diverse. Not the tone of the relationship between China, Southeast Asian musical instruments, drum band and rocking music from India, bowed strings from the Middle East, and European military style that we hear the traditional music of Java and Bali today. The interaction of several components in Gamelan is loaded with melody, rhythm and sound of gamelan made to survive as a musical instrument orchestra in Bali. Parts of gamelan music has to unite various communities in Bali characters that became typical musical arrangements which are inseparable part of everyday life.
