Godang homes or better known as Gadang House is the name for a traditional tribal Minangkabau in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Local people often refer to this custom home or home Baanjung Bagonjong home. The reason why local people call this house just as the home bagonjong because the shape of the roof of this house are towering pointy bergonjong. Tower House can also be found in nine countries, Malaysia. However, the model of the house just is different from the home that was in malaysia. But to note is that not all areas in Minangkabau traditional house can be built with it. Only areas that already have the status of villages that could be in the wake of this custom home.



The function of the Gadang House
Gadang House has a very rich meaning in that it contains an overview of ethnic Minangkabau society. The function of this house just is as follows:

1. Custom functions
As customary in the know that the house is a symbol of the existence of an interest in a particular area. Tower House is a symbol of the presence of ethnic Minangkabau which is a place to hold custom events or other important events.  The customary activities are often carried out by tribal minangkabau based upon their life cycle include:
1. dropped Bath
2. circumcision
3. marriage
4. Batagak Gala (Appointment Datuak)
5. death
The function above is a temporary function for the tribe minangkabau because such activities are not taking place every day but at certain times only.


2. Daily function
In daily functioning, house just used as a residence along with separate provisions. For the number of rooms depending on the number of women who live in it. Every woman has a right to have a family room. Meanwhile, the old women and children get room near the kitchen.
